Dare to Bare Charity Ball 2018

Yesterday I popped along to the Duke of Cornwall to support these wonderful ladies who have all claimed victory against breast cancer and have got together to help raise funds for their local breast care unit, Primrose based in Derriford Hospital. Their ‘Dare to Bare’ event will be held next Friday evening, 21st September, so I met up with them to take a few snaps prior to the big day. We managed to get 20 minutes together before their final dress rehersal to have some group shots done, both wearing their matching dresses and underwear which was Kindly donated by M&S.

The girls are really close to raising their target amount of £500 which will be used to help maintain the resources and equipment for the Primrose Breast Care Centre.

Well done ladies. You are true inspirations! Hope you have a great evening!

Cockington RC - Jump Cross 27/05/18

I remember last year getting asked to photograph an equestrain event at local riding club just up the motorway from where I lived. Never photographing horses before I was naturally nervous but I was so excited to try. I came away from the event with some good images and lots of ideas on how I could progress and make the shots more interesting. Roll on 12 months and a couple of events under my belt, I was back at the same club photographing their first event of the year, Jump Cross.

The weather was great. Bright but overcast. Prefect for what I needed. The event consisted of 19 jumps over 2 fields so I choose to position myself where I could obtain several images of the same rider giving different perspectives. On each class, I moved the find different jumps, with different backgrounds which would allow me to have a diverse collection of shots.

Below are a few shots I took throughout the different classes during the day. Looking forward to the next one!

Kind regards

Ethical Clothing Fashion Show

A few weeks back I got asked to photograph a fashion show highlighting ethical and sustainable clothing in conjunction with Fair Trade Week. I must admit, I had never heard of an event like this, but as always, I'm up for a challenge and I was determined to showcase the event in a way my client would be over the moon and if my images could help the cause, it would be mission successful! The event was held in Plymouth so I didn't have too far to travel.

I made sure I arrived in plenty in time to assess the venue, chat with the client and models (who were willing volunteers) to find out how the event was to run and check out various locations for me to shoot. Once I was ready, the show began. Clothing was from local charity shops and ethical manufacturers from the UK and abroad. The enthusiastic audience got behind the willing models as they showcased the clothing and then confidently walked down the cat walk towards my camera.

I shot for several hours getting images of the models, venue and atmosphere before returning home to start the editing work. The finished images were delivered to the client swiftly and they were over the moon with the finished product.

A great event and worthy cause which not only raised awareness but a financial contribution to whose who need it
